TOWSON, Md. – Coming
off a remarkable season in which Towson University won its first-ever Colonial
Athletic Association championship and was the most-improved team in the nation,
Coach Rob Ambrose and the Towson University football coaching staff will host their
fourth annual Tiger Football Coaching Clinic on Friday and Saturday, April 6-7.
The two-day clinic is open to all high school coaches and will be held
in the Field House adjacent to Minnegan Field at Johnny Unitas® Stadium on the
Towson University campus.
The Coaches Clinic starts at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 6 with
Registration in the third floor atrium of the Field House.
The clinic will kick off at 3:00 p.m. with four general sessions held in
the Field House conducted by members of the Tiger coaching staff. These presentations include offensive and
defensive positional instruction. The
final period includes a Strength and Conditioning session with Coach Jeremy Pick. At the same time, there will be a Special
Teams session.
At 6:00 p.m., Coach Ambrose will host a general session in the Minnegan
Room where he will speak about Program Management.
Following the clinic there will be Breakout Sessions and a Coaches'
Social allowing clinic attendees to visit with the Towson staff.
Defensive Coordinator Matt Hachmann, Defensive Line Coach Canute Curtis, Special Teams/Safeties Coach Brian Fleury, Cornerbacks Coach Derrick Johnson, Outside Linebackers Coach Konstantinos Kosmakos, Offensive Line Coach John Donatelli, Quarterbacks Coach Jared Ambrose, Wide Receivers Coach Dassin Blackwell, Tight Ends Coach James Vollono and Running Backs Coach Reno Ferri are among the coaches who
will be participating in the Coaches' Clinic.
The Football Clinic will continue on Saturday, April 7 when all
attendees are invited to attend the Tigers' football practice at 8:00 a.m.
Coach Ambrose and his staff were the architects of the Tigers' drive
from worst-to-first in 2011. Picked to finish last in the CAA, the “Turnaround
Tigers” won the CAA championship with a 7-1 record, just one season after going
winless in the conference. The Tigers, who were ranked ninth in the final NCAA
FCS poll, finished the regular season with a 9-2 record. When Towson earned its
first-ever NCAA FCS playoff berth, the Tigers became the first school in NCAA
history to reach the post-season at Division III, Division II and FCS.
Ambrose was honored as the winner of the Eddie Robinson Award as the
National Coach of the Year in FCS football.
Pre-Registration is available for $25 while Walk-Up Registrations will
cost $40.
Rooms are available at the Towson Sheraton and the Towson University
