TOWSON, Md. - The Tiger women's basketball begins play at the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Basketball Championship Tournament on Thursday, Mar. 8. The No. 9 Tigers (16-13) face No. 8 Old Dominion (10-20) at noon in the opening game at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.
The game will be live streamed by the CAA and will be available via Towson Sports Network. The contest will also be broadcast on WNST-1570AM with Spiro Morekas and Zach Maskavich handling the call.
The Tigers and Lady Monarchs will be meeting for the 19th time overall and the second time ever in the postseason. Towson and Old Dominion faced each other in the semi-finals of the 2008 tournament with the Lady Monarchs claiming the 74-51 victory.
The two teams met last Wednesday in the regular season finale. Old Dominion used a strong start to the second half and 20 points from Jackie Cook to claim a 65-50 victory. Seniors Krystal Parnell and Krystin Fields led the Tigers with 16 points each in the contest.
Parnell leads the Tigers on the season as she is averaging 12 points per game and has recorded 112 assists. Sophomore Tanisha McTiller is contributing 11.1 points per game while senior Deree Fooks is averaging 9.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Old Dominion is led by Tia Lewis, who is averaging 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Cooks is contributing 9.5 points per game for the Lady Monarchs.
The winner of Thursday's game advances to face No. 1 Delaware on Friday at noon in the Show Place Arena.
