It does't get much better than this.
Our men's golf team has now completed their practice and competition in
Arroyo Grande, California.
On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, we got to play
three of the top golf courses in the area. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we had days of competition in the Cal Poly Lamkin Match Play event at
Cypress Ridge.
Anytime there is a scoreboard, you like to win.
However, I made sure the
guys remembered why they were here in the larger picture. Starting next
weekend at our Fireline Towson Invitational, we will have four strong
events in which we will be participating.
The Rutherford, the Longwood
Invitational and the CAA Championships at Wilmington C.C. in Delaware will follow the
Fireline. Each of those tournaments is filled with good teams and our goal over this
spring break was to prepare for those events.
In that regard, this was a
total success.
But there were other sidelights as well. No one who was nearby will
forget when DJ Honan knocked in a big birdie putt to get in control of
his match. His fist pump and "small" scream of the word "BOOM" let
everyone know what he had done.
Then, we had our breakfast at Denny's without the
cook. The cook had called in sick and the waitress said she knew how to
make scrambled eggs and potatoes. A refresher course might be in the
cards for her.
Plus, there was our lost luggage which eventually got here by Tuesday in
full. Fortunately, the clubs got here on time.
However, the best of all was the exceptional camaraderie among this
team. This team's spirit and joviality, along with their competitive
nature and talent will continue to be heard from. This week they were like
the Four Musketeers Plus One - "all for one and one for all."
We hope many of you will come to Prospect Bay C.C. in Grasonville, Md. on
Kent Island next weekend and support these young men who represent
Towson so well.
Thank you for following our blogs and we are looking
forward to getting back home.
