PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Senior Kacy Catanzaro, a five-time selection as Eastern College Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week, was named as the ECAC Gymnast of the Year, it was announced in post-meet ceremonies after the ECAC Championship Meet at the Palestra on Saturday afternoon.

In addition, Vicki Chliszczyk was honored as the ECAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Catanzaro became the fifth different Tiger gymnast to be named as the ECAC Gymnast of the Year. Decelia Willacy, '08 earned the award in 2008. In 2005 and 2006, Christina Ghani, '07 was honored as the ECAC Gymnast of the Year in consecutive years. In 1993, Gabby Linarducci, '93 was named as the ECAC Gymnast of the Year. Wendy Weaver, '92 was the first Tiger gymnast to be named as ECAC Gymnast of the Year.

The top-ranked all-around performer in ECAC Division I with a 39.12 Regional Qualifying Score, she stands seventh in the NCAA Southeast region and will probably compete as an individual all-around at the NCAA regional meet. She competed as an all-around in all 12 of the Tigers' meets. She won the all-around competition in six of those meets and topped the 39.00-level six times.

The top-ranked vaulter in ECAC Division I with a 9.87 R.Q.S., she broke the ECAC record with a 9.975 vault at the ECAC championship meet. A four-time All-ECAC first team vaulter, she won the vault competition seven times. Ranked second in ECAC Division I with a 9.81 R.Q.S. on the uneven bars, she was also the ECAC champion on bars with a 9.85 score. Catanzaro also finished first on bars six times.

Ranked second in ECAC Division I with a 9.82 R.Q.S., she won the beam competition six times, breaking the school record set by Jackie Schweitzer for beam titles in a season. The owner of the third-highest R.Q.S. (9.805) on floor exercise, she won two floor titles.

As a senior, she led the Tigers to a 20-5 and a second place finish at the ECAC championship meet. The Tigers earned a 194.375 team score at the ECAC Meet but finished as runners-up to host Pennsylvania (194.400) in the closest ECAC championship meet ever.

At the ECAC championship meet, she won ECAC championships on vault (9.975) and bars (9.50). She also placed fourth in the all-around (38.825) competition and was tied for fifth on floor (9.80). She earned first team All-ECAC honors on vault, bars, floor and all-around.

During her career, Catanzaro led the Tigers to a 75-16 and two ECAC championships.  She has scored 1,363.705 points and ranks 16th on Towson's all-time scoring list.

When she earned a career high 39.40 all-around score at George Washington in the season finale, she posted the fourth-highest all-around score in school history, matching the mark of 39.40 set by former All-American Erin Shanley, '97 in 1997. Her 9.975 vault score at the ECAC Meet is tied for the second-highest vault score in school history, a mark also shared by Shanley.

Chliszczyk, who was named as the ECAC Coach of the Year for the second straig ht year, guided the Tigers to a 20-5 record and a 194.13 R.Q.S. It was the Tigers' highest R.Q.S. in many years and was the top team R.Q.S. in ECAC Division I. Under her direction, the Tigers showed steady improvement all season as they posted their first 194-plus team scores in four years. When the Tigers earned a 195.25 team score in their final meet of the regular season, it was their top score in five years.

While leading the Tigers to their tenth consecutive winning season, she coached the top floor exercise team, the top beam team and the best vault team in ECAC Division I. She also coached the Tigers to their ninth consecutive Shelli Calloway Memorial Towson Invitational championship.

In the final seven meets of the season, she coached the Tigers to a 194.06 scoring average.

In her first season as the Tigers' coach in 2011, she led the Tigers to an 18-1 record, their best mark since 1990. Against a stronger schedule in 2012, she guided the Tigers to a 20-5 mark. She has a two-year coaching record of 38-6.

Coach Chliszczyk is the first Tiger gymnastics coach to be named as a conference Coach of the Year in consecutive seasons.
