I'm back from a two week hiatus! My apologies, but midterms and Spring Break left me little time for my internship. However, this week's section will cover all we missed, as well as take a look ahead to this weekend's matchup against CAA rival Hofstra.

On the field:

After a frustrating loss against Navy, we have rallied off three straight wins against Stony Brook, Mercer, and Delaware.

Because I can't go into much detail, I'll give a game ball and explanation to the player who I believe stood out in that contest.

For the Stony Brook game I have no choice but to give it to junior goalie Andrew Wascavage. Wascavage stood on his head, particularly in the fourth quarter.

On one series, a Stony Brook player took a hard shot that Wascavage easily deflected to the left side of the cage. Another Stony Brook picked up the ground ball and fed it across the crease to an open Seawolf attackman for what seemed like an open net. Wascavage, with a diving effort, tipped the ball sending it over the cage.

Wascavage later made a save in the final seconds to preserve a 10-9 victory.

The game ball for the Mercer game goes to senior attackman Matt Lamon for scoring a career high four goals. The first of his goals came just five seconds into the contest.

Lamon is currently riding a three game point streak tallying nine goals and two assists.

Finally, I give the game ball from the Delaware game to senior attackman Sean Maguire.

Maguire scored twice while dishing out an assist.

Maguire has been nothing but consistent all season. He currently has the longest point scoring streak on the team with eleven straight games.

Goals and assists are great, but one thing that often goes unnoticed is good ground ball play. Maguire excels at picking up tough ground balls. I often find myself amazed at how effortlessly he comes up with the ball surrounded by defenders.

Driven by unselfish play, our offense amassed 40 goals on 25 assists in three games over Spring Break. Lamon, Maguire and the others are hitting their strides at the right time as we continue forward into league play this Saturday against Hofstra.

Off the field:

Spring Break was a chance for us to taste what it's like to be professional athletes for a week. No class. No tutors. No study hall. We even had an afternoon practice (as opposed to our normal 7am). It was a well needed break from our hectic schedules to focus primarily on lacrosse.

A special congratulations to freshman midfielder Justin Mabus on receiving the weekly All-CAA Rookie award. Mabus record a goal and three assists throughout the week.

A look ahead:

We leave Friday morning for Hempstead, NY to prepare for our Saturday match up against the Hofstra Pride. Coming of a CAA loss to Drexel, there is no doubt that they will be ready to go. Faceoff is set for 7 pm.
