TOWSON, Md. - Junior Andrea Samlin and sophomore Nisha Shah each won their singles and doubles matches as the Tigers edged Bucknell University on their Towson Center Courts on Thursday afternoon, 5-2.
With the win, the Tigers of Coach Doug Neagle improved their record to 9-8.
After taking two of three doubles matches, the Tigers clinched the victory by winning four of the six singles matches.
In doubles competition, Samlin and sophomore Nani Lizana teamed up to edge Courtney Casey and Lydia Colvin of Bucknell at number two doubles, 8-2. At number three doubles, freshman Cailey Easdale and Shah combined to defeat Lauren Boone and Dumitrita Iepurus of Bucknell, 8-2.
The Bison won the first doubles match as Dania Tuzhikova and Elena Vidrascu beat freshman Ayana Dow and sophomore Ariel Burke, 8-5.
In singles play, Shah won her number three singles match, beating Vidrascu, 6-1, 6-1. At number four singles, Samlin had a 4-1 lead on Casey when Casey retired to give Samlin a win.
Playing number five singles, Dow pulled out a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Tuzhikova. Burke prevailed in her number six singles match as she beat Boone, 6-2, 6-1.
The Bison earned wins at the first two singles matches. At number one singles, Iepuras defeated Ayaana Carr, 6-2, 6-1. Colvin also won her singles match as she beat Lizana by 6-3, 6-2 at number two singles.
