Andi Raymond Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore attacker Andi Raymond has been named as the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, it has been announced by league officials. She helped the Tigers clinch a berth in the upcoming CAA Tournament by leading them to a pair of wins.

"Andi is really settling into her role as a quarterback on our offense, and gaining more and more confidence with every game,” said Towson Coach Sonia LaMonica. “She has a bright career ahead of her and this recognition is highly deserved."

Raymond is the third Tiger to earn Player of the Week honors this season, joining senior goalkeeper Mary Teeters (Mar. 6) and sophomore attacker Rhiannon Coogle (Mar. 26).

Raymond finished the week with 14 points in a pair of victories against Hofstra and Drexel, which kept the Tigers undefeated in CAA play at 5-0. Towson is 11-3 overall this season.

On Friday night against Hofstra, Raymond recorded a career-high eight points on four goals and four assists. It was the second straight game that she recorded four goals in and fourth time this season she has posted a “hat trick.” Raymond's total of four assists was the first time a Tiger recorded the mark since Nikki Marcinik did so at Temple on Apr. 29, 2010.

Raymond followed that up with another strong performance at Drexel on Sunday. She had two goals and matched her career-high with four assists. Raymond's second goal of the game, late in the second half enabled the Tigers to tie the game at 10-10. She then assisted on Ashleigh Rohrback's game-winning goal with 29 seconds to play, completing the second half comeback.

On the season, Raymond leads the team with 44 points on 26 goals and 18 assists. Raymond ranks second in the CAA in assists per game (1.38 per game) and points per game (3.38 per game).

Raymond and the Tigers wrap up the regular season with a pair of home games this weekend. Towson hosts George Mason on Friday night before facing James Madison on Sunday, Apr. 22. The winner of Sunday's game will claim the CAA regular season title and host the upcoming CAA Tournament.
