The Field is Set for the 2012 CAA Championships

RICHMOND, Va. - The field is set for the 2012 CAA Men's Lacrosse Championships. Despite a regular season-ending loss at Saint Joseph's, Towson secured the fourth seed to finalize the pairings for a set of two semifinal games Wednesday, May 2.

The tournament opens Wednesday as top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Massachusetts (13-0, 6-0 in CAA) hosts the fourth-seeded Tigers (7-7, 2-4 in CAA) at 7 p.m., while second-seeded and 14th-ranked Penn State (9-5, 5-1 in CAA) entertains third-seeded and 19th-ranked Drexel (6-7, 4-2 in CAA) at 7 p.m.

The winners will meet Saturday, May 5, in the CAA Men's Lacrosse Championship game at the site of the highest remaining seed. Opening faceoff time of the Championship game will be determined following the semifinal contests.

Massachusetts earned the top seed thanks to its unblemished mark of 6-0 in league play. The Minutemen also became the first CAA squad to finish the regular season with an undefeated overall record.

Penn State is making its second-straight CAA postseason appearance. The Nittany Lions ended the year with a 5-1 league record and a 9-5 overall mark, having not lost on the road this season.

Drexel missed the postseason last year after four-straight trips to the CAA Championships. The Dragons lost a one-goal game against the Nittany Lions earlier this season.

Towson, now in its first season under head coach Shawn Nadelen, is making its first postseason appearance since 2010 when it lost 12-9 to Delaware in the CAA Championship final.
