Wake Up on the Strong Side: May 9

Good Morning, Tiger Nation. I am @Simon_HWT aka The Heavyweight and it's time to Wake Up on the Strong Side.

--The Home Stretch

Coming into the final week and a half of the regular season, Tiger baseball team needs a late season push to lift the Tigers back into position for one of the six spots in the CAA  Championship field. On a rainy Tuesday at Schuerholz Park, the Tigers put another notch in the win column, as they overwhelmed the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, with a 14-4 home win.

In the next ten days, Towson will travel to UMBC, before closing out the season with home series against CAA foes Hofstra and James Madison. Currently tied for sixth with Georgia State and William and Mary, Towson will need to continue this sort of offensive production if they want to continue their postseason aspirations.

The Tigers were 1-8 in a stretch of games where they did not score over five runs. Tuesday's game against UMES demonstrated the kind of offensive firepower the Tigers are capable of generating. Although the visitors' pitching staff helped out with seven walks and four hit batsmen, the Tigers matched their season high with 14 runs while their 13 hits is an impressive showing at the plate.

Tonight the Tigers close out non-conference action against UMBC on the road. The Tigers look for another impressive offensive turnout. UMBC is struggling this season and has a 10-36 record. Earlier this year, the Tigers shut out the Retrievers 11-0 at home.
