PRINCETON, N.J. - The Tigers ended the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships Sunday, with sophomore Evan Campbell participating in the high jump for Towson University.

Campbell faced a tough task with the opening 5' 7" height and did not clear it. However, Towson head coach Roger Erricker was pleased with Campbell's effort among a group of talented competitors.

"In all the years that I've had high-jumpers competing in this meet, that was the highest opening height it has ever been," Erricker said. "Normally you build up to that height and it makes it very difficult. But I think for Evan and some of our younger girls competing in this meet, it was really important to compete at this level. Next year, they can build on that confidence. We had some real positives come out of this meet." 

Sunday completed the three-day meet in which Towson had five other qualifiers participate in various events over the extended weekend.

Graduate student Katie Ogden performed very well in the 10K race, finishing with a time of 36:37.39, while senior Shianna Smith set a new school record in the hammer throw of 173' 2" and junior Jessica Cooke completed the heptathlon with 4,105 points.

Freshman Alexis Appezzato was 16th in the javelin with a throw of 133' 9" and classmate Emily Wenger finished with a time of 1:03.88 in the 400-meter hurdles for Towson.
