TOWSON, Md. – Tickets
for all six of the road games that the Towson University football team will
play this season are now available for sale.
Many of the
Tigers' most devoted fans follow the team on the road. Last year, Towson won
four of five road games, earning victories at No. 18 Old Dominion, No. 14 William
and Mary, No. 7 Maine and Rhode Island. The Tigers' 28-17 victory at Rhode
Island in the regular season finale enabled them to clinch their first Colonial
Athletic Association championship.
Coach Rob Ambrose's Tigers face an ambitious
road schedule this year. Towson, which finished the 2011 season as the
ninth-ranked team in NCAA FCS, opens its 2012 season at Kent State on August
30. The Golden Flashes, who play in the Mid-America Conference, posted a 5-7
record last year and were 4-4 in league play. On Sept. 29, Towson makes a visit
to Louisiana State to face national power LSU at Tiger Stadium. The LSU Tigers,
who won BCS national championships in 2003 and 2007, are coming off a season in
which they won the Southeastern Conference championship and finished as
national runners-up to Alabama with a 13-1 record.
On Oct. 6,
the Tigers travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to face CAA rival James Madison
University. Towson also visits Villanova (Oct. 27), Delaware (Nov. 3) and New
Hampshire (Nov. 17) for CAA road games.
The Tigers'
road schedule is action-packed and provides the opportunity for memorable road
trips this fall.
