TOWSON, Md. -
Over the next 4 weeks, Tiger fans and golf enthusiasts will continue to have the
opportunity to take virtual "lessons" from the pros — Jeff Castle,
Men's Golf Assistant Coach and Kate Stepanek, Women's Golf Head
Coach – with "Tiger Tips".
Just some of the topics being discussed include: putting, getting out of bunkers,
different club grips and how to properly tee up your ball.
As one
of the best golfers in Towson's history, Castle was named the Colonial
Athletic Association Player of the Year twice. He has remained extremely
competitive since graduating in 2007.
In 2008, Castle
finished second in the Maryland Open. He made seven of 10 cuts on the
Tar Heel Tour that year, including four finishes in the top 12. In 2009,
he finished fifth in earnings on the Gateway Tour Winter Series. Castle
finished second in two events while making five of seven cuts. He also
competed in four Tar Heel Tour events and made the cut in three of those
four events. Castle advanced to the second stage of Tour Qualifying
School that year.
Stepanek was a two-time
All-ACC golfer and four-year letter winner at the University of
Maryland. The first female golfer at Maryland to turn pro, she competed
on the Duramed FUTURES Tour. After qualifying school she earned exempt
status and played in 14 events.
Next week's "Tiger Tip"
will once again feature Women's Golf Head Coach, Kate Stepanek, explaining how to properly use your driver and hit the ball straighter off the tee.
