ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Coach Shawn Nadelen of the Towson University men’s lacrosse program teamed up with American and Canadian lacrosse players to participate in the first Inside Lacrosse Powerball Tournament in Atlantic City, N.J. from July 20-to-22.

Coach Nadelen, former Tiger Will Harrington (’10) and Team Reebok Black Out Cancer went 5-0 in the tournament, winning $25,000 for their cause.

“It was challenging to play five games in two days,” noted Nadelen. “But the motivation was high to help our charities. It meant a great deal to me to be chosen to this team and be able to help.”

Nadelen’s team was playing for the family of Chris Sanderson, who recently passed away from brain cancer after a four-year fight. The team was also playing for the Beat It Foundation started by Kyle Miller, who is also battling cancer. Sanderson and Miller were both goalies for the Canadian National Team. Sanderson coached Nadelen in the Philadelphia Wings organization.

Former Tiger Tim Flynn (’11) also competed in the tournament.

Team Reebok Black Out Cancer defeated Flow Society, Liquid Flow and BassMassters on Saturday before toppling Headstrong in the semifinal and Flow Society again in the final Sunday afternoon.
