TOWSON, Md. – In the first
meeting between the two schools since 1989, the Towson University
field hockey team travels to Lehigh on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (0-4) and Mountain
Hawks (0-5) are set to begin at noon on Sunday.
Towson will be looking to build on a
strong second half from their game at Penn last Sunday. The Tigers trailed 3-1
in the second half before using goals from sophomore Courtney Branco and
freshman Heather Jenney to tie the game at 3-3. Penn used a late goal to win
the game but the Tigers scored a season-high in goals in that
contest.
Branco and
Jenney lead the Tigers in scoring this season. Branco has three goals in four
games while Jenney has started her Tiger career with a goal and an assist. Sophomore
Tashani Dickson has made 33 saves in goal for the Tigers.
Lehigh has an 0-5 record following a 4-2 loss at Fairfield on Friday.
Entering the game with the Stags, Kimberly Eng led the Mountain Hawks
with three goals and two assists. Kimberly Maltinsky had 35 saves in her
first four games.
Following Sunday's
game, the Tigers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 15 for a noon game at
Bucknell. Towson then makes its home debut on
Sunday, when it hosts Providence
at 2 p.m.
