SEVERN, Md. - Dennard Abraham, Towson's leading rebounder from the 2006-07 season, has been signed by the Bay Area Shuckers of the American Professional Basketball League (APBL). Abraham brings with him a wealth of experience as he's played professionaly in Holland, Brazil and Washington state in recent years.

“One of our main goals this off-season was improving our rebounding game," said Bay Area Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe. "Dennard helps us reach that goal. He also brings additional pro experience and had a great season in 2011 in the very competitive International Basketball League."

After playing high school basketball at Franklin High School and Owings Mills High School in Baltimore County, Abraham finished his prep career at Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg, Va. He averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks per game in leading the Dragons to the league championship. He was named All-Conference for his efforts. He also played AAU ball with Carmelo Anthony.

After a successful two years at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, Abraham began his career with the Tigers. He made an immediate impact during the 2005-06 season by moving into the starting line-up. The 6-9, 240-pound forward ranked second on the squad with 6.3 rebounds per contest and was third in scoring with 12.0 points per game.

The 2006-2007 season brought continued success as Abraham led the Tigers in rebounding with 6.3 boards per game and he moved up to second in scoring with 11.2 points a contest. He also finished eighth in the CAA in rebounds.

Abraham began his pro career in 2007-2008 with Aris Leeuwarden of Holland’s top division, the Eredivisie. In 2008-2009 he came back across the Atlantic and played for Brazil’s Bira Lajeado.

In 2011, he resumed his pro career with Team Manchester of the Eurobasket Summer League in Las Vegas, Nev., where he was a member of the starting five and averaged 11.3 points and eight rebounds a game. In 2011 he also played for the Olympia Reign of the International Basketball League (IBL). For the Washington state-based Reign, he finished sixth in the league in rebounds with 8.4 per contest and also ranked among the league leaders in scoring with 15.4 points per game.
