VanDyke, whose prior best tournament finish was an eighth-place result at the 2010 Towson Invitational, carded an impressive two-round total of 149 after posting a 75 during the final day of play. She was just one stroke behind individual champion Alison Kruse of Seton Hall.
Van Dyke was tied with St. John's Stephanie Eybers for second place but won the tiebreaker by shooting a 37 on the front nine compared to Eybers' 38.
St. John's took the team title by one stroke over Seton Hall, 612-613. Central Connecticut State (633), Fairleigh Dickinson (636) and Towson (643) rounded out the top five in the nine-team field.
"Casey put together another solid round today and to have a pair of top three finishes already is big for our program," said Towson head coach Kate Stepanek. "I was really proud of the way the whole team fought today because the conditions were not ideal. It was windy and rain was threatening throughout the day. This team has a great deal of potential and we're continuing to move in the right direction. We've gotten better all four rounds we've played and we want that to continue."
Towson's three freshmen entrants, Larissa Spiess, Tensley Clowser and Viveka Singh, all shot 83 or better. After shooting a season-best 79 on Monday, Spiess shot an 83 today to finish tied for 25th overall. Clowser rebounded from an 85 yesterday to break 80 for the first time in her collegiate career with a 79 on Tuesday.
The Towson women's golf team will be back in action on September 30 at the South Carolina State Fall Invitational.
