ARLINGTON, Va. – The Towson University men's
lacrosse team continued its fall schedule by participating in the Play for
Parkinson's Tournament on Saturday at Episcopal High School. The Tigers battled
Air Force in their first match of the day and Virginia in the second contest.
The Tigers
scored nine goals against Air Force and managed seven goals against Virginia.
Tiger head
coach Shawn Nadelen was pleased with the performance of his team overall but
realized there are still things they can work on prior to the start of the
spring schedule.
“I thought
Andrew Wascavage and Tyler White stepped up today in goal,” said Nadelen. “They
faced a lot of shots but reacted well. I also thought Andrew Hodgson did a nice
job of getting up and down the field for us today.”
The Tigers
also got a chance to see some of the new rules for men's lacrosse take affect
today, with no horns on the subs, a shot clock following a stall warning and if
a team records three violations on a faceoff, they now receive a penalty.”
“I thought
today was a good test for us to see how it will affect the game and has the
potential to speed things up,” said Nadelen. “The violations on the faceoffs
are something we are going to need to work on going forward. Our guys need to
learn to be patient and get the job done.”
“I thought
today was also a good test for the officials,” said the Tiger head coach. “It
will be interesting to see how they handle things especially with the shot
clock following a stall warning moving forward.”
