WILMINGTON, N.C. - After having its final game of the regular season rescheduled for Sunday evening, the Towson men's soccer team dropped a close 1-0 contest to the host UNC Wilmington Seahawks on Sunday in its season finale.

Towson fell behind the Seahawks with 2:09 remaining in the first half when Thomas Driver scored his first goal of the season as he beat Towson freshman goalkeeper Felix Petermann for his first goal of the season. Jamie Dell was credited with the assist on the goal.

The Seahawks held possession for much of the game and recorded 17 shots, nine of which were on goal. Nathaniel Goodwin had a game-high four shots for UNC Wilmington.

The Tigers, who finished the season with a 4-10-2 record (2-6-2 CAA), were led by a quartet of players who each registered two shots. That group included juniors Olakunle Banjo and Quinn Meehan, senior Matteo Vertucci and freshman Pierre Mensah

Petermann had three saves in the game for Towson before being replaced by walk-on Conor Kregecz in the second half. Making his first career appearance, Kregecz performed admirably and stopped five shots.

"This team battled like warriors," Towson head coach Frank Olszewski said. "Giving up a goal late in the first half put us in a tough spot. Losing Felix would've deflated most teams but Conor came in to make some good stops as our team rose to the occasion. Credit UNC Wilmington's defense to keep us off the scoreboard."
