TOWSON, Md. – Freshman
fullback Emmanuel Holder of Towson
University has been named to the College Sports Journal FCS All-America
football team.
As
first-year freshman, Holder appeared in all 11 games for the Tigers and started
twice. In addition to helping Towson average 229.0 rushing yards per game with
his blocking ability, he also proved to be a very effective receiver out of the
backfield.
He
caught six passes for 60 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers. He helped
the Tigers earn a 34-27 overtime victory at Delaware when he caught three
passes for 36 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Late in the first half, he gave
Towson a 14-7 advantage when he scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass. With 44
seconds left in regulation, he caught a three-yard TD pass that gave Towson a
27-24 lead.
In
the season finale, a 64-35 win at No. 7 New Hampshire, Holder caught one pass
for three yards and a touchdown as the Tigers upset UNH to earn a share of the
Colonial Athletic Association championship.
Holder
also ran the ball three times of 22 yards.
The
Tigers finished the season as the 17th-ranked team in NCAA FCS while
posting a 7-4 record. Towson shared the CAA championship with Villanova, New
Hampshire and Richmond. Each team had a 6-2 record in CAA action.
