TOWSON, Md. - Coming off a big win on Sunday, the Tiger women's basketball team will face a tough challenge when it returns to the court on Thursday, Jan. 31. Towson (7-11, 1-6 CAA) will host second place James Madison (12-7, 6-1 CAA) at 7 p.m.
James Madison leads the all-time series between the two schools, 29-3. The two squads split their two meetings last year with each team winning on its home court.
Towson enters Thursday's game looking to build on the momentum of a 55-53 win over UNC Wilmington on Sunday. Senior forward Michelle Peebles led the Tigers with 18 points and 10 rebounds in that game. Freshman guard Dominique Johnson dished out eight assists to go along with four steals.
On the season, junior guard Tanisha McTiller leads the squad, averaging 17.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Peebles is contributing 9.3 points per game.
James Madison extended its win streak to five straight games with an 85-62 win over Hofstra on Sunday night. In that game, Kirby Burkholder poured in a career-high 28 points while adding eight rebounds.
Tarik Hislop is scoring 16.4 points per game this season while Burkholder has added 15.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Following Thursday's game, the Tigers take to the road to visit Northeastern on Sunday, Feb. 3. Towson returns home to host Drexel on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
