TOWSON, Md. - Following a week off, the Towson women's indoor track and field team returns to competition Saturday at the Lafayette-Rider Winter Games at the New York Armory Friday afternoon.

Last season, the Tigers had two meets at the Armory, something that Towson head coach Roger Erricker said could work to the team's advantage.

"Because the banks are pretty steep, the girls who have been there before are not intimidated," he said. 

Erricker mentioned that the team has focused heavily on improving conditioning for the remainder of the season as Towson enters the midway point of the indoor season. The upcoming meet should give the team an opportunity to take a big step forward.

"We just need to work harder," Erricker said. "It's a pretty important meet for a lot of girls. There is absolutely room for growth."

Towson last competed at the Thompson Invitational at Delaware on Jan. 26. The team was led by junior Evan Campbell and senior Katie Salke, who have been valuable contributors to the team this season.

Campbell finished third in the high jump with a 5' 5" result and ran a leg in the Towson 4 x 400 meter relay that finished in second place.

For Salke, she displayed tremendous leadership skills while finishing third in the triple jump with a result of 35' 11.25" mark, Salke racked up 3,248 points at George Mason, which is the fourth most in Towson history in the event.
