MORNING ROAR: Thursday, May 16, 2013

Good morning Tiger Nation and welcome to the Morning Roar.

Let's Unleash the Roar

Get ready for the final episode of Tiger Talk for the year tonight at 6 p.m. Join hosts Spiro Morekas and Damon Lewis at Bill Bateman's Bistro in Towson as they will be joined by men's lacrosse head coach Shawn Nadelen and another departmental guest. Make sure you come out for the final “hoorah” of the 2013 season. If you can't make it to Bateman's you can listen live on the Towson Sports Network via TowsonTigers.com or the Towson Tigers App on your smart phone/tablet.

Today is game day for @Towson_BASE as they get ready to open an end of week series with Northeastern. Good news for the Tigers is they have already clinched a berth into the CAA Tournament. Heading into the three game series the Tigers are 12-12 in conference and are one of four teams that have already clinched spots. This is the second straight year that the Tigers will take part in the CAA Tournament and the fifth time since they joined the conference. First pitch between the Tigers and Huskies is set for 3:30 p.m.

Yesterday was an exciting day at the Towson Golf and Country Club, as the Tiger Club hosted the Hall of Fame Black and Gold Invitational presented by Marlow Sports. It was a beautiful day for golf as many Towson supporters came out and played 18-holes on the beautiful course. All the proceeds from the event went to support current student-athletes attending summer classes. In all entire event raised over $6,000 between the golf and the silent auction.

It is not uncommon for some athletes to get nervous before going out and competing in front of a crowd. @Towson_TFXC's Evan Campbell calls some events nerve wracking but says she loves it and couldn't imagine doing anything else. Milton Kent had a chance to talk with Campbell in his latest installment of A View From Kent Road.

This past month has been a great time to be a Tiger as many of the sports had tremendous success. Each month @TowsonTigers releases their Points of Pride, highlighting some of the achievements made by coaches and student-athletes.

But let's be honest it wasn't just a successful month for Towson Athletics, it has been an incredible year for the Tigers. I know it has been my favorite year to be involved with this incredible department. I got the chance to learn a lot from the long-time “voice” of the Tigers Spiro Morekas this past year, things that I will take with me for the rest of my professional career. I had an incredible time traveling all over the country and sitting in the “booth” with Morekas and our wonderful color commentators, Ron Meehan, Vince Angotti and Hunter Lochte. Morekas takes the time to look back at the year that was in the latest edition of From the Broadcast Booth.

Thanks for reading another edition of the Morning Roar, be sure to check back the same time tomorrow for the latest. Also, follow me on twitter Zach Maskavich">@ZachMaskavich.
