Good morning Tiger Nation and welcome to the Morning Roar.
Let's Unleash the Roar
@Towson_BASE has extended their win streak to three straight games in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament by defeating second seeded William and Mary 20-13 yesterday afternoon. Offense has been no problem to the Tigers as they have racked up 42 runs through their three games in the tournament! First baseman Brendan Butler was a man on a mission yesterday, as he went 3-for-5 at the dish while driving in six runs and scoring another five of his own. Centerfielder Brandon Gonnella was 4-for-5 with three runs driven in. All nine Tigers had at least one hit in the win while eight of the nine had a multi-hit game. Kyle Paul looked impressive coming out of the pen for the second straight game for the Tigers as he picked up with win after throwing 3.1 innings and only surrendering two runs on three hits.
The Tigers are now in the championship round of the CAA tournament—remember it is double-elimination and the Tigers are currently 3-0. Towson is looking for their first CAA Championship in baseball since joining the conference and a CAA title would mean the program's first berth to the NCAA tournament since 1991.
Towson University's class of 2013 was comprised of 3,444 graduates who earned bachelor's degrees. Among the class was 47 student-athletes who earned degrees, with ten of the 47 posting a 3.50 GPA or higher. @Towson_BASE had six student-athletes earn their degrees over the last three days, while they were at the CAA Tournament. It was the most by any team at Towson. I know I said it yesterday, but congratulations to the class of 2013--I know you will go on to make our University proud.
While graduation commencement was the first “event” to take place in @TigerArena, the first sporting event will be the Harlem Globetrotters coming in the month of June. Since their foundation in 1926 the Globetrotters have played over 25,000 games all over the world and will be playing three games inside Tiger Arena. Those are just some of the interesting numbers that surround the game. For more interesting facts and information on how you can get tickets to this historic event, click here.
