We are excited that you are considering joining the excellent athletic program of Towson University. In order to make the process of becoming a student-athlete as effortless as possible, we want you to be conscious of the process of becoming a student-athlete.
First...Are You a Prospective Student Athlete?
A prospective student-athlete (PSA) is a student who has started classes for the ninth grade. In addition, a student who has not started classes for the ninth grade becomes a prospective student-athlete if the institution provides such an individual (or the individual's relatives or friends) any financial assistance or other benefits that the institution does not provide to prospective students generally.

Information for High School Students
The first step in your journey to becoming a Tiger is registering with the NCAA Eligibility Center at the conclusion of your junior year.
You will be able to keep track of your academic and amateurism status as it relates to being eligible to compete at a Division I or Division II institution. To view the NCAA Initial Eligibility Standards, please review the quick reference sheet.
The next step is to apply to Towson University early in your senior year. You can apply online at Online Application for Admission. If you have further questions, please read the Freshman FAQs.
Finally, there is a possibility that you may be offered a National Letter of Intent and an athletic financial aid agreement. A National Letter of Intent (NLI) is an official document used by institutions to establish commitment of a PSA to attend a particular institution for one academic year.
With an issuance of a NLI, institutions agree to provide athletics financial aid for one academic year to the student-athlete provided he/she is admitted to the institution and is eligible for financial aid under NCAA rules. The NLI program has a recruiting prohibition applied to a prospective student-athlete after he signs an NLI. The prohibition requires institutions to cease recruitment of a prospective student-athlete once a NLI is signed with another institution. For more information on the NLI program please go to NLI link for guidelines, signing dates, etc.
Even if you are not offered a NLI or an athletic scholarship you may be eligible for financial aid. You can find out more about financial aid online at Towson University Financial Aid.
Information for Transfer Students
If you are interested in transferring to Towson University from the institution you are currently attending, please remember you must first obtain the written permission of the athletic director at your current institution in order to contact other NCAA institutions about transferring. Without this permission, another institution may not contact you. Please contact your athletic director prior to attempting to contact a coach or staff member at Towson University.
You can find more information on transfers in the NCAA Transfers Guide.
Once you have obtained written permission from your current institution, you may contact a member of Towson's coaching staff. In most cases it will be difficult, if not impossible, to determine whether or not you will be eligible without a copy of your unofficial transcripts. Be prepared to furnish transcripts from ALL schools you have attended to the recruiting coach upon request. You can apply to Towson University at Online Application for Admission.
