Pamela Segal Joins Academic Achievement Staff

TOWSON, Md.Pamela Segal, Ph.D., has joined the Towson University Athletic Academic Achievement staff, Assistant Director of Athletics for Academic Achievement Bobbi Madison announced.

Segal will serve as the learning specialist for the Tiger men's and women's basketball programs.

“Pam is a tremendous addition to the academic achievement area for men's and women's basketball,” said Madison. “Her expertise as a learning specialist is phenomenal and we are very fortunate to have her at Towson University.”

Segal joins the Tigers from the University of Maryland, where she served as a writing specialist and a mentor/tutor in the athletic department. She worked with all levels of students on all aspects of writing for college courses and provided one-on-one instruction, including keeping track of student assignments, due dates and grades.

Segal recently earned her Ph.D. in reading from Maryland. In addition to her work for the athletic department, she served as an instructor and graduate assistant in several classes. The classes involved focusing on literacy and reading skills.

She earned her Master's in multicultural literature and literacies from Florida Atlantic in May of 2008. While she was working on her Master's she was an instructor in two composition classes per semester.

Segal earned a bachelor's degree in English and secondary education from Cincinnati in June of 2002. After graduation, she was a seventh and eighth grade language arts and reading teacher at Sunrise Middle School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Segal  served a 10th grade honors and regular English teacher at Cypress Bay High School in Florida for a year.

Segal has presented at several education conferences.
