TOWSON, Md. - Recently sat down with Towson men's lacrosse attackman Max Siskind. He scored his first career goal against St. Joseph's on April 27, 2013 and contributed important caused turnovers in the CAA Tournament.

1. Your dad played here during his college days and ranks in the top 10 all-time in points and top five all-time in assists. What does it mean to you and your father that you are following in his footsteps?
Max Siskind: It gives both of us enormous pride to share the experience of playing lacrosse for Towson University. It is tough following behind my dad’s big shoes, since he was an All-American and all-time point leader, but I try to set my own personal goals in order, to make a contribution to the team. My dad is my biggest supporter and is always there to help me out because he has been through a lot of the same situations.

2. You saw some action early in the season and then played well against Drexel and Saint Joseph’s in late April. Talk a little about your improvement over the season.
MS: I was extremely happy to get on the field; I feel that my hard work in practice gained me the opportunity to play. It was tough early in the season because I felt like I could have contributed more, but I never lost the drive to keep working hard in practice. I feel like our coaches prepare us well in order to succeed on the field.

3. You scored your first career goal against St. Joe’s. Describe the play and how you felt after scoring.
MS: Thomas DeNapoli deserves the credit for finding me on the crease, but the play started from a wing dodge from Andrew Hodgson. He threw the ball behind to Thomas, who found me on the back side. After cutting, I caught the ball and finished on the crease. After I scored I was extremely pumped up; my teammates have been extremely supportive of me, and it was an amazing feeling to get my first goal.

4. What are your goals for next season?
MS: I plan on contributing in every game next year to help our team out in what ever way I can. I really don’t have any specific personal goals but more of team goals. It would be awesome to win a back-to-back CAA Championship and then make a run in the [NCAA] tournament. Anything can happen because we all work hard, and we are a young team with outstanding talent.

5. Any fun summer plans? What’s your favorite thing to do over the summer?
MS: My favorite activity in the summer is playing golf with my father; we enjoy the friendly competition with that sport as well. I will also be working my seventh season at a local golf club for my summer job.

At the end of the summer we also take a family vacation. It is a great chance to spend time with my older brother and sister who also graduated from TU and work in the Baltimore area and my younger sister who in middle school. My mother greatly enjoys planning the vacation trip because she thinks it’s fascinating to visit different parts of the country. It is always tremendous fun for all of us to spend time together on vacation, and we have the experience of seeing some exciting places.
