TOWSON, Md. - sat down with rising sophomore Dan Livingston of the Towson men's lacrosse team for a brief, getting-to-know-you chat. Livingston was a key part of the Tigers' short-stick defensive midfield unit during their run to the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

1. You played in 16 games as a true freshman, missing the other two with injury. How do you feel your first season went when you compare it to expectations you had in preseason?
Dan Livingston: Well, my expectations coming into the season were not very high because of an injury I had in the fall that really set me back, but I am really happy the coaches gave me a chance this season. It was just great to be a part of Towson Lacrosse this year; we had a special team with a great group of coaches.

2. You had your first career assist in the CAA championship win over Penn State. Describe the play and how you felt after assisting the goal.
DL: [Andrew] Wascavage hit me with the outlet pass after making a great save, and it was just open field from there. As I was coming down, my first thought was shoot the ball, but I could hear that little voice of Coach Gilardi in the back of my head telling me to pass it. [Laughs] The Penn State defenseman slid and left [Matt} Hughes wide open for an easy finish. I think the thing that made it so big to me was that it was in the CAA championship.

3. What was the most surprising thing about last season?
DL: The most surprising thing about this season is how everyone under-estimated us the whole season. I think we shocked the lacrosse world when we won the CAA championship; no one thought we could do it. No one but us. We were the only ones that knew we had the talent and coaching to beat anyone. I love being the underdog, and I think we surprised a lot of people this year.

4. What are your goals for next season?
DL: My main personal goal for next year is coming back in shape and working on my stick skills. As for the team, our goals haven't changed. We are going to come back next year with the goals of winning another CAA championship and ultimately an NCAA championship.

5. Any fun summer plans? What’s your favorite thing to do over the summer?
DL: Just hanging out with friends enjoying my time home. I'm going to visit my uncle in Oregon for the Fourth of July. The beach is definitely my favorite thing to do over the summer. Me and my friends or family always try to go to Ocean City a few times.
