And So It Begins: The Tiger women's basketball program begins its 47th season of women's basketball and 32nd as a Division I program. The Tigers host Navy on Friday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. in the first women's basketball game ever played in SECU Arena.

Series History: Friday's game will be the 20th all-time between the Tigers and Navy. The Tigers lead the series 12-7 and have won two straight. Friday's contest will be the first for the Tigers and Midshipmen since the 2009-10 season when Towson grabbed a 56-43 win in Annapolis behind 14 points from Haliena Snowden.

Take Me To Your Leader: The Tigers, who are beginning their 47th season of basketball, will be doing so with a new head coach. Niki Reid Geckeler was named the ninth head coach in program history in the spring of 2013. Reid Geckeler joined the Tigers from Howard University where she spent five years as the head coach. She helped the Bison compile an 85-75 record in her time there, post back-to-back 20+ win seasons and make two straight postseason appearances.

We're Honored: A pair of Tiger earned Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors at CAA Basketball Media Day last month. Senior guard Tanisha McTiller earned first team Preseason All-CAA accolades. McTiller is coming off a junior season in which she averaged 18.8 points per game, third in the CAA. Redshirt senior forward Nyree Williams was selected as a Preseason All-CAA honorable mention pick. Williams led the team and finished 10th in the CAA while averaging 7.8 rebounds per game last year.

Seeing Double: Friday's game is the first of three doubleheaders that will see the Tiger women's and men's teams play in the same building on the same day. In addition to Friday's doubleheader with Navy, the Tiger women's and men's teams will host UMBC on November 26. Both Tiger basketball squads travel to Coppin State on January 4.

Picked To Finish: The Tigers were picked to finish fourth in the CAA Preseason poll released last month at CAA Media Day. The poll was voted on by the league's nine head coaches. The fourth place finish selection for the Tigers is the highest the team has been ranked in the CAA Preseason poll since 2008-09. That year, the Tigers were selected to finish fifth in the preseason poll.

Up Next: It's a quick turnaround as the Tigers face their first road test of the season. Towson travels to N.C. State on Monday, Nov. 11 for a 7 p.m. game.
