TOWSON, Md. - The Tigers are back in action on the hardwood Wednesday night when they make the short trip around the Baltimore Beltway to face the UMBC Retrievers in RAC Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game will be televised on MASN and carried live on WBAL (1090 AM) Radio.
This is the 50th meeting between Towson (3-3) and UMBC (4-2) in basketball. The Tigers lead the series 31-18 but the Retrievers have dominated lately, winning nine out of the last 10. The two teams haven't met since 2005 when the Tigers beat the Retrievers 60-55 in the Towson Center. That stopped UMBC's streak of nine straight wins over Towson.
The Tigers hope to snap a 14-game road losing streak they've been suffering through since early last season. After beating Samford 73-66 in Birmingham on the first road trip of 2007-08, the Tigers have dropped 14 straight on the road. It won't be an easy task, however. UMBC has won 20 of its 22 game at home. The Retrievers hope to continue a nine-game winning streak in the RAC.
Towson is coming off two losses at last weekend's Philly Hoop Group Classic where they bowed to 17th-ranked and unbeaten Villanova before losing to Penn State, now 6-1 on the year. UMBC's last outing was successful as the Retrievers downed visiting Toledo
