Tribe Visits Tigers Wednesday Night

TOWSON, Md. ? The Tigers are hoping to make it a sweep for 2008-09 when they host William & Mary Wednesday night in a rematch in the Towson Center. Opening tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The game will be carried locally on WBAL (1090 AM) Radio.

The Tigers, who are currently in 10th place in the CAA standings, beat the Tribe, which enters the game tied for 11th in the league, 69-56 in Williamsburg on Jan. 28th to post their largest victory margin over a league opponent thus far this season. Troy Franklin's driving layup beat the first half buzzer and gave Towson a lead (37-36) it would not surrender. Franklin finished with a team high 18 points. Jarrel Smith added 13.

This will be the 20th meeting between the two teams. The Tribe leads the series 10-9 but the Tigers have won 4 of the last 5 games. The host school has won 13 of the 18 games played on campus sites. The Tigers won the only neutral floor contest, 70-65, in the 2004 CAA quarterfinals held in the Richmond Colesium. That was Towson's first CAA Tournament victory, advancing the Tigers into the quarterfinals for the first time. The Tigers are 2-8 in Williamsburg and 6-2 in the Towson Center against W&M.

The Tribe won the first game ever played between the two schools by a 94-31 count 61 years ago. The 63-point difference remains Towson's largest margin in a loss. The date also makes William & Mary Towson's oldest opponent in the CAA.
