Sports Performance is composed of Certified Speed, Strength, & Conditioning professionals, Certified Athletic Trainers, Team Physicians, and other performance and allied health care professions who provide a rich array of intellectual and clinical techniques and philosophies of human performance; speed, strength, & conditioning; sports medicine; and athletic training. These techniques and philosophies are a conglomeration of the experiences and educations of its staff. TUSP cultivates a championship atmosphere of eternal evolution of new techniques to maintain a contemporary practice to foster the physical and mental development of student-athletes.
Sports Performance produces optimal athletic performance of TU student-athletes through a systematic screening and training of each individual student-athlete. Grounded in the philosophy that optimal athletic performance is the result of the combined efforts of Sports Medicine, Speed, Strength & Conditioning, and a full complement of health care and performance professionals, Sports Performance develops the total athlete through a unique set of services:
- Physical Conditioning - Develops sport-specific strength, power, movement, speed, agility, flexibility, and conditioning.
- Mental Conditioning - Builds the mental skills that help athletes and teams reach their goals and compete at their best on any given day.
- Nutrition - Optimizes personal nutrition to meet high level academic and sport demands. The goal of nutrition education and counseling is to produce optimal everyday nutrition, eating plans to meet sport-specific demands, body composition, energy balance and body weight issues, dietary supplements, hydration and maintaining nutrition while traveling.
Recovery, Regeneration, and Rehabilitation - Rejuvenates the body through the use of myofascial release, active-isolated, static, and dynamic flexibility, and active recovery protocols while reducing the potential of injury through corrective exercises allowing for optimal training and rehabilitating the injured student-athlete.
