RICHMOND, Va. - A pair of Towson University volleyball players have been honored as the Colonial Athletic Association announced its Volleyball Players of the Week. Junior setter Aubrey Kirven was named as the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week while freshman defensive specialist Paige Sekerak earned CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors.
"Aubrey and Paige really stepped their games up for us this weekend," said Coach Bruce Atkinson. "They have been working hard in practice and I believe are raising their own levels of expectation for themselves."
Kirven earns Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season as she shared the honor with Natalie Abel of James Madison. Kirven had a strong week running the Tiger offense as she averaged 14.86 assists per set in the Tigers' two wins and added six kills, 19 digs and four blocks. On Saturday against Georgia State, Sekerak led a Tiger backline that recorded 90 digs. It was the first time since 2009 that the Tigers had 90 digs in a match.
