TOWSON, Md. – After a tough road series at Georgia State, the Tiger softball team returns home on Tuesday, Apr. 3. Towson (15-17) will look to even its record at .500 when it hosts Villanova (23-9) in a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m.
While the Tiger offense was limited to just one run in three game set, junior Katie Lingmai had a record breaking weekend in the circle. Lingmai had 11 strikeouts in two games to break Jess Wides’ record for career strikeouts at Towson. Lingmai now has 445 strikeouts in her Tiger career.
On the season, senior centerfielder Erika Stasch leads the team with a .344 batting average and has driven in 24 runs. Freshman shortstop Hailey Balk is hitting .310 with 12 runs scored. Lingmai leads the Tigers in the circle with a 9-6 record, a 2.31 ERA and 124 strikeouts.
Villanova had its six-game win streak snapped over the weekend as Providence swept the three-game series. Molly Manning is hitting .400 in 90 at bats while also posting a 9-3 record with a 2.82 ERA in the circle. Tessa Braga is batting .371 with 15 runs scored.
Following Tuesday’s doubleheader, the Tigers resume Colonial Athletic Association play on Friday, Apr. 6 when they travel to Drexel for the first two games of that series starting at 1 p.m.
