TOWSON, Md. – Incoming freshman Kelsey Polak of Kirtland, Ohio has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Towson University and play volleyball, it has been announced by Coach Bruce Atkinson.

Polak is a 5-10 setter who attends Kirtland High School. She led the Hornets to a conference championship in each of the last two seasons and helped the team capture the district championship as a junior. Polak is a two-time all-district and all-conference first team selection. She was named as the MVP of the Chagrin Valley Conference as a senior. She also played club volleyball for the Maverick ACE 18-1 Elite team.

“We are excited to have Kelsey join our team,” said Atkinson. “She has the strength and release to set a faster tempo offense and she has the ability to contribute to our team immediately.”

Polak joins Haley Pa’akaula as part of the Tigers’ incoming class for the 2012 season. The two newcomers join a Tiger team that went 23-9 last year and posted a 10-4 record in Colonial Athletic Association play. The 2011 CAA Coach of the Year, Atkinson returns 12 letter winners, including CAA Player of the Year Katy Buck.
