Granted it's baseball where you it's not entire uncommon play back to back to back games within a day or two. But in a playoff atmosphere - to open the tournament with a rain-delayed, 12-inning marathon that went into the early morning hours and then turn around 10 hours later and win an elimination game is pretty impressive.

Towson baseball yesterday did just that - after losing 8-7 in an extra innings heart-breaker to rivals Delaware, Towson rebounded in their following elimination game against George Mason and scored 16 runs on 13 hits en route to a 16-8 victory.

But later that evening - Towson would play another game past my bedtime, facing the VCU Rams at 9:15 p.m. and dropping a 14-9 loss to Rams (in the last CAA competition between Towson and VCU in any sport)

“Coming back from that loss to Delaware last night was very impressive,” Towson coach Mike Gottlieb. “We came out here this morning and played a good game against Mason. In the end, we just didn’t have enough pitching.”

The takeaway from this team? Towson Baseball plays hard - these guys finished their season with their backs against the wall. When they needed three wins to clinch a playoff berth (or one/two wins and some help) they took their fate into their own hands and swept conference foe JMU to guarentee their spot in the post season. Now after these three games - despite the result - it's been fun to follow this team over the last few weeks.
