TOWSON, Md. - In lacrosse sometimes having the person who can make the pass which leads to a goal is just as an important as the person who scores the goal.
For the Tiger women's lacrosse team in 2012 when they needed a pass that led to the goal, the Tigers turned to A.R.: sophomore attacker Andi Raymond and redshirt sophomore attacker Ashleigh Rohrback.
The pair combined for 55 of the Tigers' 104 assists, giving the team two players with 20 or more assists in a season for the first time since 2009.
Raymond entered her sophomore season having posted three assists as a freshman. She quickly matched that mark with three assists in her first four games of the 2012 campaign. Raymond posted six assists through the season's first eight games. She then posted at least one assist during six of the seven games of the Colonial Athletic Association schedule. Raymond had four games in which she posted four assists, including the NCAA Play-In game against Monmouth and the CAA semi-final win over Drexel.
Raymond finished the year with 33 assists for the Tigers. Her 33 assists tied Nancy Etzel (1984) for the third most assists in a single-season at Towson. She finished the year second in the CAA in assists per game (1.74).
Rohrback entered the 2012 season having not recorded an assist in her career. She recorded her first career assist with a helper against Loyola. An assist against Temple on Mar. 20 started a streak of 12 straight games in which Rohrback recorded at least one assist. She had six games with multiple assists, including a career-high five assists in the win over George Mason. Rohrback's five helpers against the Patriots were one shy of the single-game record at Towson.
Rohrback finished the year with 22 assists for the Tigers. Her 22 assists tied teammate Sarah Appelt for eighth on the single-season assists list at Towson. Appelt recorded 22 assists during the 2011 season. Rohrback finished the year tied for fourth in the CAA while averaging 1.10 assists per game.
Raymond and Rohrback return to lead the Tigers in 2013.
