TOWSON, Md. - Members of the Towson University
Department of Athletics and teams participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for
the Cure on Sunday, Oct. 21 as an official team. The event was a 5K walk/run held
in Hunt Valley, Md. to raise money and awareness for breast
cancer research.
The Towson
"Pink PAWS" team was composed of 142 participants, including members
of the softball, men's lacrosse, swimming and diving and gymnastics teams along
with their coaching staffs. In addition, members of the academic advising,
facilities and sports performance staffs took part.
The "Pink PAWS" team was recognized prior to the race as the 2012 Team Challenge Winner for Most Participants in the Workplace with 500+ employees.
The team was captained by Assistant Director of Athletics for Academic Achievement Bobbi Madison, a breast cancer survivor. The Pink PAWS team raised over $8,000 for the cause.
