Opening Draw
The Towson women's lacrosse team wraps up its three-game season opening road trip on Wednesday, Feb. 27 when it makes the trip to UMBC. First draw for the game is set for 4 p.m. with Towson Sports Network broadcasting the game. Zach Maskavich and Kate Mills will handle the call.
Updating the Tigers
The Tigers suffered their second three-goal loss of the season last Saturday as they fell 13-10 at then No. 15 Georgetown. Sophomore attacker Sarah Maloof led the Tigers with four goals and two assists in the game while sophomore goalkeeper Kelsea Donnelly made 11 saves. Maloof leads the Tigers on the season with nine points on six goals and three assists. Senior Kelly Custer has three goals while Donnelly has a goals against average of 11.00 and a save percentage of .463.
Scouting the Retrievers
UMBC is 2-0 this season after posting a 7-5 win over California in its home opener on Saturday. Lindsay Cox led the Retrievers with four goals in the game while Kendall Mason made eight saves in goal for the win. Cox has posted four goals in each of UMBC's first two games and leads the team with nine points. Mason enters Wednesday's game with an 8.50 goals against average and a .433 save percentage.
Towson-UMBC Series History
Today's game will be the 40th all-time between the two schools seperated by just over 15 miles. Towson holds a 32-7 advantage in the series. The Tigers have won seven of the last eight match-ups including an 11-3 victory in Unitas Stadium last year. Towson got a pair of goals from Olivia Turner in that game while Ashley Waldron and Katie Leech each tallied a goal and an assist.
