TOWSON, Md. - The Tiger women's basketball team returns home for it's next to last game in the Towson Center on Thursday, Feb. 28. Towson hosts Northeastern with tip set for 7 p.m. in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest.
The Tigers and Huskies will be meeting for the 27th time overall with Northeastern holding a 14-12 lead. The Huskies have won two of the last three meetings following a 59-56 victory earlier this season in Boston.
Winners of two of their last three contests, the Tigers (9-17, 3-12 CAA) will be looking to close out their home slate on a strong note. Juniors Tanisha McTiller and Nyree Williams led the Tigers with 10 points each in their last contest.
McTiller ranks third in the CAA in scoring and enters play this week averaging 17.7 points per game. She is tied for the team lead in rebounding, pulling down 7.3 boards per game. Freshman guard Dominique Johnson is averaging 9.3 points and 3.2 assists per game. Williams leads the Tigers' defensive efforts with 7.3 rebounds per game and 41 blocks.
Northeastern (15-10, 8-6 CAA) enters Thursday's game having won two straight after a 67-52 victory at UNC Wilmington on Sunday. Jewel Tunstull and Kashaia Cannon led the Huskies with 16 points each in that game while Tunstull added nine rebounds.
Deanna Kerkhof leads Northeastern this season as she is averaging 14.8 points per game. Tunstull is pulling down a team-high 8.8 rebounds per game.
The Tigers play their final home game and final game ever in the Towson Center when they host William & Mary on Saturday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers will honor senior forward Michelle Peebles prior to the start of that game.
