CHARLOTTE - The Charlotte Hounds of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) used a nine-goal fourth quarter to propel them past the Boston Cannons, 15-12, Saturday evening at American Legion Memorial Stadium. It was the Hounds' (4-5) first win over the Cannons (4-5) in Charlotte's three years in the league.
Former Tiger men's lacrosse player Thomas DeNapoli '14 had three shots and two groundballs in the win.
The first half was even, with the teams tied 3-3 at the end of the first quarter and 5-5 at the break. Boston opened up a 9-6 advantage with four goals in the third from four different players. However, Charlotte answered in the fourth, exploding for nine goals from six different Hounds - including a two-point goal form Mike Sawyer to kick things off.
Next up for Charlotte are the Rochester Rattlers (5-3). The Hounds welcome the Rattlers to American Legion Memorial Stadium on Saturday, July 5 at 7 p.m. There will be post-game fireworks for fans in attendance.
