TOWSON, Md. - As a freshman, you're expected to improve as the season progresses just based on the experience you gain.

But, freshman running back Terrance West has done that and much more.

In his most recent game, a 35-30 loss against No. 21 Delaware on Saturday night, the Baltimore, Md. native rushed for a season-high 155 yards and four touchdowns to mark his fourth consecutive 100-yard game. In addition, his performance marked the eighth time that a player has rushed for four or more touchdowns in school history.

The 155 yards by West marked the most by a Tiger running back since 2005 when Nick Williams ran for 169 yards in a win over Delaware at Unitas Stadium. It is also the 44th time that a Towson running back has run for over 150 yards in school history.

While leading the Tigers' running game, West also set the Towson record for most rushing yards by a freshman and enters next week's game against Maine with 746 yards in eight games. On Saturday night, West surpassed the previous mark of 734 yards that was set by Jason Corle in 1996.

With 18 touchdowns in eight games, West leads NCAA FCS in scoring and averages 13.50 points per game. If you were to include the Football Bowl Subdivision, only one other player - Montee Ball of Wisconsin - has more rushing touchdowns.

And let's not forget the fact that he has been named as the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week four times, including each of the last three weeks.

If West continues his current pace, there should be no doubt that he will break the Towson single-season rushing touchdown mark that was set in 1993 when Tony Vinson had 23 rushing TDs. He is also more than halfway to the Towson career record of 33 rushing touchdowns, which was set by Corle.

For West, the only way to keep going is up. But, as he does, it will certainly be something that Tiger fans will want to watch.
