TOWSON, Md. - Towson freshman Jon Burr and sophomore diver Alex Cohen have received the Colonial Athletic Association’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week awards, respectively, it has been announced by CAA officials.
Cohen was outstanding on the boards Saturday against Maryland, placing third in the one-meter dive with a score of 257.03 points and third in the three-meter event with 283.05 points.
“I think everybody was ready to go,” Diving Coach Maureen Mead said. “I was very impressed with Alex because he faced some stiff competition. He was focused and he had a list of very good dives.”
Burr placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.44 and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 49.81 seconds.
“Anytime you get recognized like this, it can give you a little spring in your step,” Coach Pat Mead said. “If we can stay healthy and keep performing, we should be in good position.”
The Tigers return to Burdick Pool Saturday for a home CAA meet against George Mason at 1:00 p.m.
