SEATTLE, Wash. - Since returning to the major leagues last week, former Tiger All-American Casper Wells has been swinging a very hot bat. In his first seven games with the Mariners, he is batting a very impressive .524 with five runs scored and six runs batted in for the Seattle Mariners.
He has hit safely in all seven games since rejoining the Mariners. In four of those games, he has a pair of hits. Last Saturday night, he homered in the first inning to help Seattle beat San Francisco, 7-4. on Wednesday night, he wasn't in the starting lineup. However, with the game at Arizona tied in the 10th inning, Casper appeared as a pinch hitter and lined a two-run single to centerfield, giving Seattle an 11-9 lead. Moments later, he scored on a double by Ichiro Suzuki to add an insurance run.
Casper, who was hitting only .214 when he was sent to the minor leagues, has raised his batting average to .309 since returning to the majors. The Mariners return to action this weekend with a three-game series at San Diego.
