PRESEASON CAA HONORS: Senior forward and co-captain Cheyenne Skidmore was
named as an honorable mention on the 2012 All-Colonial Athletic Association Preseason
Team just before the weekend. She was named third-team All-CAA at the end of 2011 after tallying eight goals and nine assists for 25 points on the year.
TIGERS VS. NEW OPPONENTS: The games against DePaul and Valparaiso marked the first time Towson has played either opponent. Towson has a record of 31-43-3 all time against new opponents.
TOWSON VS. DEPAUL: Skidmore scored her first goal of the season when she received a through-ball from junior Kat Sipes and went one-on-one with a defender before scoring in the 66th minute ... Sipes' assist was her first point as a Tiger ... Freshman Hollie Garber made her first career start ... Freshmen Nicole Nicholas, Sarah Bonney, Vasthy Delgado, sophomore Tanya Finnerty and Sipes played in their first games as Tigers.
TOWSON VS. VALPARAISO: Towson's offense came alive in the second half, recording all of its shots in that frame ... Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Quinn recorded her second straight game with five or more saves ... Valparaiso scored its lone goal on a penalty kick at 78:34.
QUINN-TASTIC PLAY: Quinn has stepped up for the Tigers in goal. In just her third start, she recorded six saves against DePaul - one shy of her career high. Against Valparaiso, she posted five saves. Both games saw her performing acrobatics to defend the net. In the match against the Crusaders, she leapt and punched over the bar a shot at 40:51, and at 55:36 she dove to her left to stop a header from going in.
