Sophomore Katie Ponce sat down with TowsonTigers.com for a brief chat. So far this season she has started both games played and recorded a shot. In 2011, she appeared in 13 games as a defender, starting four.

1. Why did you choose to play for Towson?
Towson was kind of a big risk for me. Originally I wanted to play at a really small school that was in a city and within an hour from my house in New Jersey. I had no idea I'd love Towson 'til I came for my first visit. It was the opposite of everything I thought I wanted, but [by the end of recruiting] I knew that Towson was the school for me.

2. What was your favorite memory from last season?
Last season was a tough one for me. I lost my mom to cancer the second week of school, and by far, my favorite memory is having my roommate send me the photo of the whole team wearing orange tape around their wrist for her. Coolest and most meaningful thing they could have done, and I'll never forget it.

3. What advice would you give this year's freshmen?
Make the most of everything. I think the freshman that have the hardest time are the ones that dwell on all the negative things. Everyone can't have everything perfect; some people won't play, some will, some people are going to make more friends easily than most and some are going to just hate to have to leave home. Everyone is entering a new phase of their lives, and the ones that embrace every change will make it.

4. What's the first thing you'd do if you won $1 million?
With a million dollars, I'd buy my dad a new house closer to Towson.

5. If someone wrote your biography, what would the title be?
"The turns and curves inside the curls" ... I have super-curly hair, but the hair doesn't say it all. Haha.
