TOWSON, Md. – Former Penn State University swimming standout Margy Keefe has been named as an assistant coach for the Towson University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams, it has been announced by Coach Pat Mead.
“We are excited to have Margy join our program,” Mead says. “I am confident she will help our teams continue the tradition of excellence we have experienced in recent years.
“Her swimming and coaching experiences will be an asset to our student athletes,” Mead adds. “Her passion for the sport of swimming and enthusiasm for coaching is what shined through in her interview.”
Keefe was an assistant coach for the Ursuline Academy high school swim team for the last two years. She helped the Lions win the Southwest Ohio district title in 2008 while earning a third place finish at the Ohio State Championships.
A 2007 graduate of Penn State, Keefe was a three-year letter winner for the Nittany Lions. She competed at the 2004 United States Olympic Swimming Trials and also won the silver medal in the 5K Open Water Race during the 2005 World Championships.
In addition, Keefe was a two-year member of Penn State’s Student Athlete Advisory Board.
