AD BLOG - September 14, 2009

Football. Tailgating. Fireworks. Students. Families. Community. This week, it all comes together. Our staff has been working diligently to prepare for the opening night of the college football season this Saturday, September 19 at Johnny UnitasÒ Stadium. In a few short days, it will be here, and you won't want to miss it!

Our team has had an extra week to prepare for Coastal Carolina and has made the most of the opportunity. The Tigers showed grit against Northwestern, and even though the squad is young, no one is making excuses, and everyone is expecting results.

The stadium is ready. The 47-foot wide video board has been tested. The concession stands are stocked. Did you know that you can choose between a crab cake sandwich, a pork barbeque sandwich, a pit beef sandwich or a cheese pizza? Our concessions offerings have become part of the great stadium experience you can find at the "U"!

The Towson football alumni are making a special effort to arrive early and welcome home Rob Ambrose, '93, who will be leading his team onto Minnegan Field for the first time as the head coach of his alma mater. It's great to have their support.

This first game is Towson Community Night, and we offering a discounted ticket to our closest neighbors, providing a chance to enjoy the college football experience--an opportunity for the families in the community to gather and celebrate on a college campus.

We have a special gathering of Towson business leaders on the Tiger Terrace, celebrating one of our best assets - the close connection to the Towson business community. We have more than 20 businesses on board as partners for the event. I truly appreciate the partnership and leadership of the Towson Chamber to help build our vibrant community.

It will also be the first home game for our student body. For the freshmen, it will be their first chance to cheer for their new team. It will be the first game that will feature our new fight song. It will be the only night game on the home schedule, providing the perfect chance to wrap up the event with fireworks. It has all the elements of an outstanding football experience.

Whether you are a football fan, an alum, a student, a neighbor or someone who is looking for a fun college football experience, you won't want to miss the excitement on September 19 at Johnny Unitas® Stadium! I hope you have the date circled on your calendar-it will be a memorable night!
