TOWSON, Md. – After reaching the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Game last year, the Tiger men’s lacrosse team will open its 2010 season on Saturday, February 27 against Bucknell University at Johnny Unitas® Stadium, it has been announced by Coach Tony Seaman.

The 1 p.m. game against the Bison will be the first of seven home games for the Tigers.

“The Towson University Men’s Lacrosse schedule for 2010 is as challenging as any Division I schedule in the country,” Coach Seaman says. “With Penn State and UMass coming into the CAA and the addition of Navy to our non-league schedule, every single game on our schedule presents a serious challenge.”

After the Tigers’ game against the Bison, the team will play back-to-back road games at Stony Brook and Maryland before hosting the United States Naval Academy on Tuesday, March 16 at Unitas Stadium at 7 p.m. The Tigers will also welcome the University of Virginia to Unitas Stadium on March 21 for a 12 p.m. match-up against the Cavaliers.

The Tigers will make the short trip to Loyola (Md.) on March 27 to face the Greyhounds before opening their Colonial Athletic Association schedule on April 3 against the University of Delaware.

On April 7, the Tigers will renew their annual rivalry against UMBC at Unitas Stadium, which will be followed by a visit to the University of Massachusetts. It will be the first meeting between the two teams as CAA rivals and just the second all-time meeting in men’s lacrosse.

The Tigers will return home on April 17 for a 7:30 p.m. game against Drexel before welcoming new CAA rival Penn State to Unitas Stadium on April 24 for a 12 p.m. match-up.

After the Tigers travel to Johns Hopkins on April 28, the Tigers will end the regular season on May 1 at Hofstra.

The CAA semi-finals are slated for Wednesday, May 5 at the site of the highest seeds while the conference championship game will be held on Saturday, May 8 at the site of the highest remaining seed.

The CAA champion will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
