TOWSON, Md. - The Towson men's lacrosse team will be checking in with Tiger fans throughout the upcoming season with "The Face-Off Blog" on TowsonTigers.com. Visit the men's lacrosse team page on TowsonTigers.com during the year for the latest information on the Tigers.
In the inaugural entry, Assistant Coach Michael Allan gives Tiger fans a glimpse into the team's schedule during the Fall season.
The 2009-10 lacrosse season has started at Towson and the Tigers are already hard at work to make this a special year for the program. The practices have been intense and there has been some great competition throughout the fall.
While the Tigers have been working hard on the field, they have been involved in some great activities off the field as well. The team helped contribute to the University’s recycling effort by volunteering at the football team’s home opener. Players spent time before the game educating tailgaters about recycling and distributing trash bags to be used for recyclable materials.
The team also participated in a 5K Run at St. Joseph’s Hospital to benefit prostate cancer research. Junior attackman Tim Flynn was the first to cross the finish line for the Tigers and all of the players ran well. In late September, a large group from the team also participated in a Phone-a-Thon to help raise money for US Lacrosse.
The fall season will conclude with the Lacrosse for Leukemia Tournament on October 17 at Cedar Lane Park in Bel Air, Maryland. The Tigers will face Washington College at 10:10 a.m., the Air Force Academy at 12:45 p.m., and the day will conclude with a game against St. John’s at 2:10 p.m.
Another special event coming up this month is a reception for Tiger Lacrosse Alumni at the football game against the University of Richmond on October 31. The reception will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the Field House terrace, which is a great place to watch a game.
Thanks to everyone for their support of Towson Lacrosse. We’re looking forward to a great 2010 season.
