TOWSON, Md. – Junior midfielder Marco Mangione scored the game’s only goal in the 48th minute as the Tigers (6-7-0, 3-4-0) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association victory over the University of Delaware (5-10-0, 2-5-0) at the Towson Center Soccer Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

It was Mangione’s fourth game-winning goal of the season.

“Every game against Delaware is going to be difficult,” Towson Coach Frank Olszewski said. “They get better and better every year. For us to be successful today, we had to play well from start to finish.”

After a scoreless first half, Mangione gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead at the 47:23 mark when he took passes from sophomore forward Liam Maloney and senior forward Tommy Appel-Schumacher and scored on a shot from the left side.

From there, sophomore goalkeeper John Steele and the Tiger defense held off the Blue Hens to post the team’s second shutout of the season.

Steele made two saves for the Tigers, who outshot Delaware by a 13-10 margin.

Junior goalkeeper Conrad Rusnak made four saves in a losing effort for the Blue Hens, who have dropped four straight games.

The Tigers will travel to Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday night for a 7 p.m. game against the Rams. Meanwhile, the Blue Hens will travel to UNC Wilmington on Saturday night.
